Autumn 2018 trend report:
Everything you need to know about the new season

With summer cooling off, now’s the time to think about the incoming new fashion season. Autumn 2018 brings a batch of fresh ideas, from heritage looks and shades of brown to new neon and animal print – the only question you should be asking yourself is what to wear first?

Uber Layering
Blankets, puffa jackets, capes and coats all together! To keep it real, you might want to simplify the styling by just adding a thick coat over a thinner one in a contrasting colour. Cosy.

Animal Print
Leopard-print coats and leopard-print shoes are the two most prevalent ways this trend presents itself on the high street, but there’s an abundance of snake and python patterns, zebra, and cheetah, some in classic, neutral tones, but there are wilder and vivid versions out there too.

Brown is the new black
While no colour truly can be the new black, brown is the neutral tone that you will be seeing everywhere this season – fashion is embracing these 70s-inspired shades for the colder months. From tan to camel, all you need to do is find the right brown for you, or go head to toe tonal, mix a glossy chocolate with a rust shirt, and tweed trousers.

The Queen’s Balmoral serves as the inspiration here with tweeds and silk scarf prints. Tweed is warm, versatile.  Yep, once again, tweed is hip. And, speaking of  Balmoral, tartans and plaids also continue to reign this season.

Statement Knits
A guaranteed retail smash, look-twice patterned knits are definitely going to be big business this autumn. From the logo sweaters to more complex zigzags and stripes, there’s a statement piece of knitwear out there for everyone to snuggle up in.

New Neons
Bringing back neon? Thankfully the new hues like watermelon, lemon and lime making for a fruitier palette. Best worn as a stand-out pop of colour amongst a navy, black, grey or beige outfit.

Crystals Everywhere
Indulge your magpie tendencies with a crystal item to suit every possible taste, from feminine and girly to punk and sporty. Expect the stores jewellery counters to be dripping in diamonds.
